How to use
In VORA chat, specify [topic or indicator] + [region, population or classification] + [period and frequency] + [output format]. You do not need to mention KOSIS; describe the statistics you need in natural language. The tool searches for a table, checks periods and items, then retrieves values. You do not need to know table numbers or item codes.
- "Compare Seoul, Gyeonggi and Busan populations for the latest three available years in the same table, with reference years, units and sources"
- "Retrieve the latest available monthly employment rate for Korea and show the age group, sex, reference month and unit"
- "Find the total fertility rate table and its statistical explanation; summarize the definition, available periods and producing agency"
- "Browse population statistics by topic and find a table of population by age"
How to read statistics
- Latest means the last period actually available in the selected table. Without a period request, the tool retrieves one latest period. It may not be the current year or month.
- Available frequencies vary by table: annual, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, daily and others. Align the table, frequency, units and basis before comparing regions, ages, sexes or items.
- Keep missing-value symbols and unavailable observations as returned; never convert them to zero. Some tables contain projections or discontinued series. Check the description and available periods.
- Retrieval time differs from the observation’s reference period. Keep the table title, producing agency, item, classification, unit, period, source URL and retrieval time with each result.
- Selecting all regions, items and periods may exceed the provider’s query limit. Reducing displayed rows does not narrow the underlying query. Split the requested regions, items or periods and continue to further pages when available.
Request checklist
Choose the indicator and comparison basis before searching.
- Specify the indicator, region and classifications such as age or sex.
- Request one latest period, several recent periods, or a start/end range and frequency.
- Ask for a table or comparison with units, reference periods, missing values and sources.
Review, save and reuse
Keep values and search conditions together when citing results.
- Check definitions, units, producing agencies and available periods in the table and explanation.
- Save selected items, regions, populations and retrieval time. Label calculated changes separately from source values.
