K-Classic Search
Answers grounded in original Korean classical texts
What is the K-Classic Search tool?
This tool is built on a proprietary RAG database that lets you freely ask the AI about the complete Korean-translated classical texts (고전번역서) from the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics. Answers are grounded in the original texts of literary collections, unofficial histories, envoy records, and royal protocols — such as Mokminsimseo, Seongho Saseol, Dongmunseon, Sinjeung Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam, and Yeollyeosil Gisul.
It uses meaning-based (hybrid) search rather than keyword matching, so it understands natural-language questions well. When the reliability of a result is low, it honestly refrains from citing sources and instead draws on general knowledge. When it does cite a source, it indicates which classical work it came from (e.g., Mokminsimseo, Daedong Yaseung).

When can you use it?
The K-Classic Search tool is especially useful in these situations.
- When you're curious about the writings and thought of Joseon-era Confucian scholars and literati (Toegyejip, Yulgok Jeonseo, Dasan's collected works, etc.)
- When you want to find a specific passage from classical poetry, prose, or a literary collection
- When you want to check stories from unofficial histories (Daedong Yaseung) or envoy records (to Japan and Qing China)
- When you want to reference old institutions or geography from royal protocols, gazetteers, or Silhak statecraft texts
For example, you can naturally ask "Find the virtues a magistrate should uphold according to Mokminsimseo", "Summarize an interesting story from Seongho Saseol", or "Tell me about Qing-dynasty customs recorded in the Yeonhaengnok". The AI will then use this tool to give you the results.
How to use it
Usage is simple. Just enter your question about Korean classics, literary collections, classical poetry, the thought of Confucian scholars, unofficial histories, envoy records, or other old documents naturally, and the AI will use this tool.
